Mend A Broken Heart

My name is Sandy Olson, I am 39 years old. About 9 years ago I was diagnosed with peripartum cardiomyopathy, a serious heart condition during my last pregancy.  I also have ventricular tachicardia and have a difribulator inplanted to keep my heart beating. I have fought congestive heart failure since that time. My EF is now 10% and I have been told I need a heart transplant. I am raising 4 kids on my own now and my strongest desire is to see them grow into adults. This is a very expensive surgery. The cost of my medication for the first year alone is over $20,000. Any and all donations will be used for my medical treatment and will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you and God bless.

I think it is about time for an update.  I was recently given home iv medication and listed on the transplant list as a 1B.  I am home bound until the heart comes.  I am really grateful for all the support I have recieved and thank you all very much.  May the Good Lord bless you in many ways,

GREAT NEWS ALL:  I got my new heart.  Transplant was 11/12/08.  I am still at emory hospital and awaiting doctors order to go home.  Hopefully this will happen by monday morning.  I will be staying close to the hospital until I have had my third byopsy, I will have one a week for three weeks and then I can go home to the kids.  Thank you all and I will keep you updated on all new things going on.  The new heart is beating a little slow and we are treating it with meds in hopes that it will go up on its own, might need pacemaker.

UPDATE:  I am home now. I would like to thank all of you for your support.  I really couldn't have done it without you!  I pray you all have a Merry Christmas and Blessings galore.  --Love, Sandy

Fundraising is a matter of life and death for some transplant candidates, and a matter of quality of life for others. Your generous donation will help this client’s endeavors to assume self-responsibility for his or her medical needs by fundraising.
