Gary Young

 

 

 In April of 2008 Gary Young, Mid day announcer and Program Director of WLVH/LOVE 101.1 and Savannah's Gospel 1230 WSOK was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease.

June 19, 2009, was the big day, Gary's Kidney transplant day.  Thanks and Love, to Kelly Young, (Gary's daughter) for donating her kidney.  Thanks to the staff of Piedmont Hospital/Atlanta, for the great treatment.  

An Original "Taste Maker" in the radio business since 1975, Gary has worked in markets including Detroit, Michigan; Little Rock, Arkansas; Richmond, Virginia, Jacksonville, Florida; Washington D.C Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Shreveport Louisiana. Programming stations all over the country to number one, Gary has been playing the music we all love to hear, whether you're 18 or 55!! Launching many music careers thru radio & turning record sales into platinum plaques. In 1996 Gary was selected as the 1st African American Public Address announcer, for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association. Setting the standard in broadcasting, he’s received the George Boogaloo Frazier award for excellence by Urban Network Magazine and the Large Market Program Director of The Year Award by Gavin Magazine. An active member of the NAACP, and a member of the West Broad Street YMCA Board of Directors and 100 Black Men of Savannah, Gary has dedicated his life to the LOVE that music brings back to the community.
