Charlie Powell is a client of the Georgia Transplant Foundation's (GTF) Translant Fundraising Program (TFP) and is fundraising for costs related to his upcoming kidney transplant that will not be covered by his Medicare insurance. Charlie has been evaluated for a kidney transplant and is listed at Emory Hospital.
Through Charlie's involvement with GTF he is eligible to receive matched funds up to $10,000 for every dollar raised, which can used for post-transplant related costs.
Transplantation can be an overwhelming situation and patients are encouraged to plan ahead for some of the uncovered and unforseeable costs. Thanks you for your support of Charlie Powell and his endeavor to assume self-responsibility for his medical needs through fundraising. His sister Becky Bowman of Clemson, SC has agreed to be his organ donor, or cross giver, and is presently undergoing final testing to confirm her compatability.
Charlie suffered kidney failure in December of 2008 and has been undergoing dialysis since March of 2009. He is very much looking forward to the improved quality of life a kidney transplant will give him. He is hopeful that he will be able to assume many of the activities that he enjoyed prior to his kidney failure. You may reach Charlie at 770-312-0333 or cgp@windstream.net.
